I write short story cycles that are character-driven and geographically based. Mrs. Somebody Somebody (Random House 2010), sometimes humorous, often sad, always going after the truth, is set in Lowell, Massachusetts and narrated by 11 characters who take turns showing up in one another's narratives between 1947 and 2004. The interconnections create a moving portrait of that city through time. My present work is rooted in the flood from Hurricane Irene in 2011 in the White River Valley of Vermont. Phi Beta

Tracy Winn worked in the Phi Beta studio.

Funded by the Phi Beta Fraternity, a national professional fraternity of music and speech founded in 1912, Phi Beta Studio was built between 1929–1931 of granite quarried on the MacDowell grounds.
