Wen Liu is an artist based in Brooklyn. She is a 2022 RAiR Foundation Grantee; DCASE Individual Artists Program Grantee for 2018, 2019, and 2020; and received the Illinois Arts Council Agency 2020 Artist Fellowship Award. Her work has been exhibited at the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, Culture Center in Chicago, Lubeznik Center for the Arts in Michigan City, the Roswell Museum, and the National Grand Theater in Beijing. Liu's practice is a collection of reactions to the environments and objects encountered to build her sense of security coming from a foreign land. She recently incorporated herbal medicine in her practice after her Dad’s passing.
While at MacDowell she worked on the series called Inarticulate Trace, which are relief sculptures, including mold making and casting, that inspired by stained glass windows. The series explores herbal medicine in the process of healing.
