Yelena Akhtiorskaya is the author of Panic in a Suitcase, a New York Times Notable Book of 2014 and National Book Foundation “5 under 35” honoree. Her writing has appeared in The New York Times, N+1, The New Republic, and elsewhere.

While at MacDowell, she took a break from psychoanalytic training in order to get some purchase on a much delayed and agonized-over second novel, which has unfortunately been transforming into interconnected short stories.

Delta Omicron

Yelena Akhtiorskaya worked in the Delta Omicron studio.

Delta Omicron Studio was funded by members of the international musical fraternity in 1927. The building design is somewhat medieval in character, with an unusual cedar shingle pattern, a steeply pitched slate roof, intersecting gables, and small windows.
