Yelena Akhtiorskaya is the author of Panic in a Suitcase, a New York Times Notable Book of 2014 and National Book Foundation “5 under 35” honoree. Her writing has appeared in The New York Times, N+1, The New Republic, and elsewhere. While at MacDowell, she took a break from psychoanalytic training in order to get some purchase on a much delayed and agonized-over second novel, which has unfortunately been transforming into interconnected short stories.
