Yxta Maya Murray is a law professor, writer, and artist. She is the author of twelve books, including the novels A History of Hazardous Objects (University of NevadaPress, 2024), God Went Like That (Curbstone Books, 2023), and Art Is Everything (TriQuarterly Books, 2021). Her latest nonfiction book is We Make Each Other Beautiful: Art, Activism, and the Law (Cornell University Press, 2024).

Murray won a Whiting Writer's Award in 1999, she received an Art Writer's Grant from the Andy Warhol Foundation in connection with Creative Capital in 2018, was a 2024-2025 Radcliffe Fellow at Harvard, the winner of the 2025 Blackwell Prize in Writing, and has won a 2026 Pushcart Prize.
