YZ Chin is the author of Edge Case, a New York Times Editors' Choice and an NPR pick for best books of 2021. She is also the author of Though I Get Home, winner of the Louise Meriwether First Book Prize, and she has translated Li Zi Shu's The Age of Goodbyes into English.
While at MacDowell completed a draft of a literary mystery set in the mangrove swamps of Taiping, Malaysia, in the wake of COVID. The work is tentatively titled The Return.

Given to the residency by the Monday Music Club of Orange, New Jersey, Monday Music Studio is sited next to an enormous boulder deposited by glaciers thousands of years ago.
