Melissa Ditmore Breaks Down Process and Project Planning at Mountain Shadows
On the morning of December 10th, first-time Fellow Melissa Ditmore visited the 8th-grade “Islander” class at Mountain Shadows, joining ten students and four adults for an engaging discussion about the process of projects.

Together they explored what we perceive as art, and how to approach large, multi-part projects with confidence as well as grace and built-in rest for oneself. Ditmore drew connections to beloved literary classics and showed how stories can remain meaningful across ages. She tied these themes to the students’ annual Olympic Studies project, in which each student works with a mentor to investigate a specialized topic and become an expert in their field. Students shared their proposed subjects for this year's projects, ranging from Hamilton to crochet, and received advice and encouragement as they broke down the processes of research, curiosity, and bravery.
