MacDowell and Tables of Contents present Sigrid Nunez, Marie-Helene Bertino, and Daniel Saldaña Paris

April 29, 2025

We were honored to be hosted by Tables of Contents at The Brooklyn Grange on April 29 for an evening filled with delicious bites, vibrant cocktails, and luminous conversation with distinguished MacDowell Fellows Marie-Helene Bertino, Daniel Saldaña París, and Sigrid Nunez. Their recent works—The Vulnerables by Nunez, The Dance and the Fire (forthcoming) by Saldaña París, and Exit Zero by Bertino—laid the groundwork for a delightful gathering.

MacDowell Director of Public Programming and Events Brett Solomon opened the evening with a warm introduction, highlighting the care and creative support a MacDowell residency provides. From discussions of vampire folklore to the unique charm of cheese-and-pickle sandwiches—a Sigrid Nunez favorite—each guest and speaker brought something delightfully unexpected to the table.

Special thanks to Cocktails in Color, Sammi Katz and Olivia McGiff for the evening’s specialty cocktails, which perfectly complemented the rooftop setting. Host Evan Hanczor closed the night with guided dialogue centered on writing, literary and culinary tastes, and the similarities and differences of Marie, Sigrid, and Daniel’s cooking and writing habits.
