MacDowell at Children in the Arts Festival

May 17, 2025

MacDowell was thrilled to take part in Children in the Arts Festival, a beloved community event bringing together families from across the Monadnock region. This year's theme, Greatest Hits, was in honor of the festival's 30th anniversary. "Generations have enjoyed handcrafts dancing, live music, puppetry, the noontime parade, and other inspiring activities for the imagination. Our local school students, visiting performers, artists, and members of the community have filled downtown Peterborough with color and energy, laughter and magic, every third Saturday in May for decades."

At our booth in Putnam Park, families and children enjoyed coloring pages featuring iconic MacDowell buildings in addition to an image of our founders, Edward and Marian. Three lucky raffle winners went home with a book bundle featuring works for young readers written by MacDowell Fellows.

About the Children in the Arts Festival

On the third Saturday of May, since 1993, the Children and the Arts Festival fills downtown Peterborough. Children of all ages revel in shows from local talent to top entertainers. Hands-on art opportunities and face painting are busy all day, except for the one hour when all eyes turn to our Giant Puppet Parade, when they feast on the creations of students, families, classrooms, and community members as they descend into downtown.
