MacDowell Downtown

MacDowell Downtown is a monthly series of presentations by MacDowell Fellows, held on the first Friday of each month from March through November in downtown Peterborough, New Hampshire. The series features a wide range of programming—including film screenings, readings, performances, interviews, and artist talks—each event offering a unique window into the creative process.

Events are free and open to the public, continuing MacDowell’s tradition of providing broad access to exceptional work in the arts. Programs typically begin at 7:30 PM and are typically held at the Monadnock Center for History and Culture.

The 2025 season of MacDowell Downtown featured a lineup of presentations by ten incredible MacDowell Fellows, showcasing the breadth and depth of artistic disciplines, practices, and talent represented at MacDowell. Across genres and disciplines, this year's series wove together stories of identity, memory, justice, transformation, and creative possibility— a testament to the power of the art to challenge boundaries, interrogate cultural narratives and illuminate the profound ways creativity shapes our understanding of the world.
