Host your next event at MacDowell NYC

MacDowell NYC offers a multi-purpose, fully accessible gallery and event space available for short-term rental by organizations and individuals aligned with our mission who are looking for a moderate-capacity venue for presentations, exhibitions, cultural events and performances, receptions, and more.

MacDowell is committed to hosting a diverse range of events and activities that promote creativity and the arts. Thoughtfully organized events are an impactful way to support our mission and foster meaningful connections. We are honored to provide a space for these gatherings at MacDowell, in alignment with the following guidelines. Space Specifications:

  • Total area: 1,075 sq. ft. (divisible by glass partitions into 275 sq. ft. reception area and 800 sq. ft. gallery/event space)
  • Wall height: 12 ft. 9 in.
  • Capacity: 70 persons seated, 115 standing
  • Kitchenette with dishwasher, refrigerator, microwave, and plateware
  • Optional green room for storage/prep

Base Rental Fees Include:

  • Walk-through and event consultation
  • Staffing by one MacDowell staff member
  • Use of furniture, glassware, projector, sound system
  • Use of conference room as a greenroom

MacDowell does not provide:

  • Amplified sound, livestreaming, or other A/V tech (we can recommend vendors)
  • Stage managing or cleanup
  • Catering or alcohol services
  • Greeter at the ground level (required)

All rentals require:

  • Proof of insurance for all external vendors
  • Additional staffing for check-in and event setup and breakdown
  • Completion of our event outline rubric

FAQ’s

The space is NOT available for:

  • Events with activities or content related to 501(c)(4) organizations, direct or grassroots lobbying, political campaigns, or electoral or partisan themes
  • Commercial events with profit-making activities
  • Fundraising

When can I host an event?

  • Standard event hours are Monday through Thursday, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Events are not allowed on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, or U.S. federal holidays
  • Under certain conditions, events may be scheduled outside of these hours, subject to additional fees for staffing and building services.

When should I reach out to schedule an event?

  • Please allow at least 2 months notice if you plan on renting the space.

I’m a MacDowell Fellow - can I have a discount?

  • Please note that you are a MacDowell Fellow on the submission form and we will do our best to provide a discount on the hourly rate.
