Katherine Min Fellowship

Established in 2019

The Katherine Min Fellowship was established by MacDowell Fellow Katherine Min's family and friends to celebrate her life and to honor her creative legacy. Katherine was excited about the idea of creating a fellowship in her name that would allow Asian American writers to share in the MacDowell experiences that so deeply enriched her own life. The Fellowship is a permanent tribute to Katherine’s artistic legacy and ensures MacDowell’s ongoing commitment to serving Asian American writers.

Katherine was an artist-in-residence at MacDowell eight times -- in 1995, 1996, 1999, 2001, 2004, 2005, 2007, and 2013. During her 2001 residency, Katherine finished the first draft of her novel Secondhand World. Along with the uninterrupted time to write, Katherine loved the picnic basket lunches, the friendly pool games, the late-night dance parties, and the opportunity to meet and share work with other artists. Katherine cherished the lifelong friendships she made at MacDowell and was, in turn, a beloved member of our community of Fellows, staff, and supporters.
