Alison Wellford is author of the novel, Indolence, and wrote the screenplay adaptation that has been optioned for film. Her short stories have appeared in The Gettysburg Review, The Barcelona Review, and Fence, among other journals, and her work has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize. She is assistant professor and program director of the Pan-European M.F.A. at Cedar Crest College. In residence in 2918, she worked on her untitled novel-in-progress and completed two short stories and a flash creative nonfiction essay. Her novel-in-progress, based on a true story, is an intimate portrait of familial and racial drama surrounding boom and bust agriculture in 1970s and 80s Tidewater Virginia.

Phi Beta

Alison Wellford worked in the Phi Beta studio.

Funded by the Phi Beta Fraternity, a national professional fraternity of music and speech founded in 1912, Phi Beta Studio was built between 1929–1931 of granite quarried on the MacDowell grounds.
