Amanda Gersh, M.F.A., is a fiction writer living in Portland, OR. While at MacDowell she worked on short stories about growing up in the 1980s in South Africa, which have been published in such magazines as One Story, and The Mississippi Review and anthologized in Dinaane: Short Stories by South African Women.

Amanda Gersh worked in the Wood studio.

Wood Studio, given to the residency program by Mrs. Frederick Trevor Hill, was completed in 1913 in memory of Mrs. Hill’s mother, Helen Ogden Wood. Like Schelling Studio, the building is sided with large, overlapping pieces of hemlock bark.
