Brazilian-Italian playwright, currently based in New York. Ana Candida has written plays, radioplays, librettos, lyrics, and poetry, both in Italian and Portuguese. She has received important prizes in Italy, and has an international career. Her plays have been translated into English, French, German, and Catalan. And she has worked, performed and had work produced in Italy, France, England, Sweden, Finland, South Africa, and China.

She is a also Rockefeller Foundation Bellagio fellow, and also works as a translator and professor.

Phi Beta

Ana Cândida de Carvalho Carneiro worked in the Phi Beta studio.

Funded by the Phi Beta Fraternity, a national professional fraternity of music and speech founded in 1912, Phi Beta Studio was built between 1929–1931 of granite quarried on the MacDowell grounds.
