Beth Underdown is the author of The Key In The Lock (Penguin Viking 2022) and The Witchfinder's Sister (Penguin Viking and Ballantine 2017). The Witchfinder's Sister was a Richard & Judy book club selection, won the Historical Writers Association Debut Crown in 2018, and has been optioned for TV by Monumental.

Beth is a lecturer in creative writing at the University of Manchester.

While at MacDowell she worked on a first draft of her third novel, which follows the disappearance of an Antarctic explorer in 1911.
