Caleb Wheeler Curtis is a saxophonist, composer and collaborator. His work as a composer-collaborator has led to albums from Walking Distance: Neighborhood (2015), and Freebird feat. Jason Moran (2018); Curtis+Garabedian+Sperrazza: New Year (2018); and CURTIS/CARTER/FERBER: Doing Nothing Is Hard Business (2020). He plays on two GRAMMY-nominated albums with the Captain Black Big Band: Presence (2018) and The Intangible Between (2020). His album Brothers (2018, Imani Records) will be followed up with Ain't No Storm in 2021. He also has releases slated for 2021 with Curtis+Garabedian+Sperrazza and Orrin Evans, and with Swiss pianist Laurent Nicoud.

While at MacDowell, Caleb composed new works for jazz quartet to be recorded in Summer 2021 and investigated sounds and timbres on alto saxophone, soprano saxophone, trumpet, and flute.

Delta Omicron

Caleb Wheeler Curtis worked in the Delta Omicron studio.

Delta Omicron Studio was funded by members of the international musical fraternity in 1927. The building design is somewhat medieval in character, with an unusual cedar shingle pattern, a steeply pitched slate roof, intersecting gables, and small windows.
