Catherine Brookman is both a composer and a performer under the name Sullivann. She released her debut visual EP Elements in summer 2021 and in the fall of the same year recorded and released a full-length record. She also performed as a soloist in Meredith Monk's ATLAS at the LA Philharmonic.

As a composer, Catherine has created full-length scores for theatre in New York including Give it a Go (2020 Target Margin resident artist; work-in-progress), William Burke's Variations on the Main (JACK), PIONEERS#goforth (JACK), and Rady&Bloom's The Upper Room (NYTimes Critic's Pick, New Ohio).

While at MacDowell, Brookman worked on a new, full-length record about her travels in 2020.

Irving Fine

Catherine Brookman worked in the Irving Fine studio.

Youngstown Studio was given to MacDowell by friends of Miss Myra McKeown in Youngstown, OH, where she promoted both art and music. It was renamed Irving Fine Studio in 1972 in honor of Irving Fine, a distinguished composer, conductor, and teacher who was a MacDowell Fellow during the 1940s and 1950s.
