Charlotte Willard (1906-1977)

"Charlotte Willard, art critic for The New York Post from 1964 to 1968 and former art editor for Look magazine, died Thursday of cancer at her home in Manhattan. She was 71 years old.

Mrs. Willard was a prolific writer on art in America, her articles appearing in many periodicals. She also wrote several books, including “What Is A Masterpiece?” “Moses Soyer—American Painter,” “Famous Modern Artists—Cezanne to Pop Art” and “Frank Lloyd Wright—American Architect.”

From 1964 to 1969, she was a contributing editor to the magazine “Art in America.”

Mrs. Willard, a graduate of New York University, spent many summers in East Hampton. L. I. Her husband, Howard, died several years ago."
