Christine Schiavo

Discipline: Visual Art
Region: Douglaston, NY
MacDowell Fellowships: 1995, 1998, 2006

Christine Schiavo is a New York City based multi-media artist working in Film, Photography, Drawing, Sound, Installation and Performance art - and often all of the above in a crazy, rumpus of experimental collisions.

Her work is in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art NY, the Metropolitan Museum of Art NY, the Henry Buhl Foundation and shown in galleries, museums and film festivals internationally.

She is currently working on an experimental Super 8, silent film titled RIVETGIRL: a Cinematic Fable in 12 Chapters. RIVETGIRL is a surreal coming-of age-story made with live action, animation, photography, drawing and an original sound score. It premiered its first chapters at the Museum of Modern Art, NY and has shown at various film festivals.

Chris often seeks collaboration with artists working in all mediums, thriving off the spontaneous energy and the happy accidents that occur when creative minds come together. She is a founding member and Visual Director of the Collective Opera Company based in NYC, and works in experimental theater, film and music projects.
