Danielle Pagan Harleman travelled and worked extensively in Europe and Africa before attending the NYU graduate film studies program. Out of film school she worked for with Spike Lee, Ang Lee, and Alan Rudolph before focusing on documentary. She has collaborated with award winning filmmakers including Murray Lerner, Robert Redford, Marc Levin, and Matt Heineman. She lives in Brooklyn with her two daughters.

At MacDowell, she was working on a rewrite of her screenplay, "Joe and Cindy", about the dissolution of a family.
