Elaine Agnew is an Irish composer. Her work has been widely featured across Europe, the UK, and the United States. She is also a teacher of music, and her efforts in this area have carried her all over the world, from Ireland and the UK to Indonesia, Iceland, and America. Agnew received a Major Individual Arts Award from the Arts Council of Northern Ireland. Aside from her stay at The MacDowell colony, Agnew has been a resident of the Banff Center of Creative Arts and the Tyrone Guthrie Center.

Veltin

Elaine Agnew worked in the Veltin studio.

Veltin Studio was donated by alumni of the Veltin School, a school for girls in New York with a highly respected visual arts department. As the plaque just outside the entrance attests, this studio was used by poet Edwin Arlington Robinson during most of the 24 summers he spent at MacDowell.
