Emma Heaney completed the second part of a two-part novel entitled The Commonplace Book. She also outlined a series of six short stories that will compose a collection tentatively titled New York Girls. Her first book The New Woman, a study of the representation of transgender women in Modernist novels and works of twentieth-century philosophy, was published by Northwestern University Press in 2017 during her residency.

Emma Heaney worked in the Chapman studio.

Chapman Studio was funded by Mrs. Alice Woodrough Chapman in memory of her husband, composer George Alexander Chapman. Symmetrically massed, the building is stuccoed on the exterior with a natural, unpainted cement. Its unusual half-timbered ornament consists of slender, knotty spruce poles painted a dark green color. A central, peak-roofed entrance porch appears on the north side…
