Grace Krilanovich is an American author who was selected as a National Book Foundation “5 Under 35” in 2010. She attended San Francisco State University, earning a B.A. in American Studies, and the California Institute of the Arts, where she earned an M.F.A. in writing. Her first novel was selected as one of Amazon’s Best Books of the Year in 2010 and was named a Top 10 Book by Shelf Unbound. Krilanovich has been a MacDowell Fellow and a finalist for the 2009 Starcherone Prize. She currently works at The Los Angeles Times.

Built in 1912, Pine Studio was renamed MacDowell Studio in 1943 in recognition of support from a group of Edward MacDowell’s music students. It was built as a composers’ studio and the stuccoed walls were intended to be soundproof.
