Jacob Slichter is an American musician. Slichter, the son of physicist Charles Slichter, was born in Boston. He graduated from Harvard with a degree in African American studies and history. He is the drummer for the Minneapolis based rock band, Semisonic. Slichter, in 2004, wrote So You Wanna Be a Rock & Roll Star, a book that details his experiences as a member of Semisonic and their journey through the recording industry.

Veltin Studio was donated by alumni of the Veltin School, a school for girls in New York with a highly respected visual arts department. As the plaque just outside the entrance attests, this studio was used by poet Edwin Arlington Robinson during most of the 24 summers he spent at MacDowell.
