James H. Burgess is a painter. He received his M.F.A from the College of Art and Architecture at Cornell University in 1974 and his B.A. from Harvard College in 1962. His work has been exhibited in the United States, Germany, China, Australia, and elsewhere. He received a National Endowment for the Arts grant in 1975. Institutions with Burgess’ work in their collection include the New York Public Library, the Currier Gallery of Art in Manchester, NY, and the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston. He lives and works in New York City.
