During her first MacDowell Fellowship, Jane South was working on an exhibit of animations and an installation to open at Mass MoCA in September 2002. Her first New York solo show was at the Spencer Brownstone Gallery in December 2001. Later in the year she wwould be installing a wall drawing at the Weatherspoon Museum, Greenboro, NC. One of her large scale sculptures was installed at the DeCordova Museum and Sculpture Park, Lincoln, MA.

At Macdowell in 2004, she worked on an Installation piece for,"Drawn + Quartered", an exhibit to open at SECA (NS) in May, and other works for an upcoming show at Susanne Vielmetter La Projects in LA (CA) in June.

Nef

Jane South worked in the Nef studio.

Nef Studio, the first entirely new studio built after 1937, was donated by esteemed photographer, explorer, author, and MacDowell Fellow Evelyn Steffanson Nef in 1992. Endowed funds for the studio’s maintenance in perpetuity and an annual Fellowship for photographers were given in addition to funds for construction.
