Kathleen George is a professor of theatre at the University of Pittsburgh. She first came to MacDowell in 1996 when she had published short fiction and she worked on stories in Monday Music, a studio she loved. In 1998 her collection The Man In the Buick was published by BKMK press. After that came seven series crime novels: Taken, Fallen, Afterimage, The Odds, Hideout, Simple, and A Measure of Blood. Then she found her way to two standalone historical novels: The Johnstown Girls, and The Blues Walked in.

Given to the residency by the Monday Music Club of Orange, NJ, Monday Music Studio is sited next to an enormous boulder deposited by glaciers thousands of years ago.
