Katie Chase's short fiction has appeared in such places as The Missouri Review, FiveChapters, Narrative, ZYZZYVA, and Salon, and been selected for inclusion in the Best American Short Stories and Pushcart Prize anthologies. She is the recipient of a Michener-Copernicus Award and is a former fellow of San Jose State University’s Steinbeck Program and the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, where she received her M.F.A. At MacDowell in 2017, she worked on the first draft of a novel. Her first book, a collection of short stories entitled Man and Wife, was published in May of 2016. Originally from a suburb of Detroit, she lives currently in Portland, Oregon.

Chapman

Katie Chase worked in the Chapman studio.

Chapman Studio was funded by Mrs. Alice Woodrough Chapman in memory of her husband, composer George Alexander Chapman. Symmetrically massed, the building is stuccoed on the exterior with a natural, unpainted cement. Its unusual half-timbered ornament consists of slender, knotty spruce poles painted a dark green color. A central, peak-roofed entrance porch appears on the north side…
