Laura Hendrie Laura Hendrie's Stygo won the Rosenthal Foundation Award of the American Academy of Arts and Letters and the Mountains and Plains Regional Booksellers' Award. It was a finalist for the PEN/Hemingway Award.

At MacDowell in 2002, Laura worked on her second novel. In 2003 she continued work on the novel, which was at that point still untitled. During her 2005 residency she finished her third novel, The Year We Won a Firebird and had recently signed a movie option deal for the second book, Remember Me.

Laura Hendrie worked in the MacDowell studio.

Built in 1912, Pine Studio was renamed MacDowell Studio in 1943 in recognition of support from a group of Edward MacDowell’s music students. It was built as a composers’ studio and the stuccoed walls were intended to be soundproof.
