Leo Ríos is a fiction writer. He studied English, Spanish, and Chicanx studies at UCLA and received an M.F.A. from Cornell University. His work appears or is forthcoming in The Arkansas International, The Georgia Review, The Rumpus, The Masters Review, Joyland Magazine, and The Common.

At MacDowell, Ríos finished writing his first book, a novel-in-stories, tentatively titled Carta Blanca. The last chapter needed to complete Carta Blanca will be published as a short story in The Common in Fall 2023. He also began working on a second book, a collection of prose poems.

Wood

Leo Ríos worked in the Wood studio.

Wood Studio, given to the residency program by Mrs. Frederick Trevor Hill, was completed in 1913 in memory of Mrs. Hill’s mother, Helen Ogden Wood. Like Schelling Studio, the building is sided with large, overlapping pieces of hemlock bark.
