Leslie Cuyjet is an award-winning performer and dance artist in Brooklyn, NY. She is most known for collaborating with a range of artists including Cynthia Oliver, Jane Comfort, David Gordon, Yanira Castro/a canary torsi, Juliana F. May, Narcissister, Kim Brandt, Niall Jones, and Will Rawls, among others. Cuyjet’s own work interrogates those experiences, performing in various experimental and post-modern forms, through the lens of a Black body and has been presented by Center for Performance Research, SculptureCenter, The Shed, MoMA PS1, La MaMa, Gibney, and Roulette Intermedium. She has received residency and award support from Foundation for Contemporary Arts, Mertz-Gilmore Foundation, Marble House Project, Yaddo, New Dance Alliance, Movement Research, and Center for Performance Research and is looking forward to a Hodder Fellowship with Princeton University this year. Cuyjet is ending her two-year tenure as co-editor of the online publication Critical Correspondence and is a co-founder of the Authentic Movement collective, Duvet.
