Pearl Kazin Bell was a writer, editor, and literary critic born in 1922 in New York, NY. She worked as assistant literary editor of Harper’s Bazaar, copy editor at The New Yorker, and was a regular fiction critic for The New Leader, Commentary, and Partisan Review. She is author of the short story, The Jester, along with several other pieces. She and her husband, Daniel Bell, raised their son, David, in New York.

Van Zorn (formerly Kirby)

Pearl Kazin worked in the Van Zorn (formerly Kirby) studio.

Constructed thanks to a bequest from Sarah L. Kirby, Kirby Studio was the last new building to be erected during Mrs. MacDowell’s leadership (1907-1951).
