Peter Mattei is a playwright, novelist, and a film and television writer and director. He is a graduate of Brown and the Yale School of Drama, and was a founding member of New York's Cucaracha Theater; his award-winning plays were seen in various theaters across the country to critical acclaim. His micro-budget first feature, Love in the Time of Money, was developed at the Sundance Directors Lab and was executive produced by Robert Redford. Nominated for a Gotham Award for best indie feature, the movie stars Vera Farmiga, Rosario Dawson, Steve Buscemi, Michael Imperioli, Carol Kane and Adrian Grenier; it premiered at Sundance and was distributed by ThinkFilm and Miramax. As a writer he's developed scripts for Greene Street Films and others, and created/written original series pilots for HBO, CBS, ABC, Fox and other networks. He also created/wrote/directed an original documentary series for AMC. Mattei's photographs and videos have been shown in galleries in Brooklyn, Texas, and upstate New York, and his novel The Deep Whatsis was called a "red hot debut" by Publishers Weekly.
