Rhonda Green-Smith used her time in residence to continue work on her first novel, a book of inter-related short stories exploring the long-term effects of racially driven crisis situations on African American children and families. She has a B.A. in English creative writing from the George Washington University and currently works as the development coordinator at a national non-profit that provides services to homeless youth and families.

Rhonda Green-Smith worked in the Irving Fine studio.

Youngstown Studio was given to MacDowell by friends of Miss Myra McKeown in Youngstown, OH, where she promoted both art and music. It was renamed Irving Fine Studio in 1972 in honor of Irving Fine, a distinguished composer, conductor, and teacher who was a MacDowell Fellow during the 1940s and 1950s.
