Robin Beth Schaer is the author of the poetry collection Shipbreaking. She teaches writing in New York and Ohio, and she worked as a deckhand aboard the Tall Ship Bounty, a 180-foot ship lost in Hurricane Sandy. While at MacDowell, she worked on a series of poems that explore wreckage, on both interstellar and intimate scales -- from the collapse of stars to natural disasters and human conflicts.
