I completed my education at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1978 when I received a doctorate in music composition. I then served as a resident fellow at the following institutions: (1) Stiftelsen EMS Stockolm, Sweden; (2) Colgate University, Hamilton, NY; (3) Simon Fraser University, Burnaby, BC, Canada; (4) Tel Aviv University, Ramat Aviv, Israel; (5) Ghent State University, Ghent, Belgium; and (6) Audio-Digital Laboratories, Vancouver, BC, Canada.

I am a specialist in the electroacoustic media. Beginning in 1998, my works appeared on the CDs Electroshock Presents: Electroacoustic Music, Volumes II, V, VII and VIII in Moscow, Russia. In 2014, a two-CD collection of my works appeared on Out of Kilter: Digital, Mixed Media and Text-Sound Compositions by Robin Julian Heifetz, Soundcarrier Music Network, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.

I have served an an adjunct music professor at Antelope Valley College in Lancaster, California since 2006.

Studios

Veltin

Robin Heifetz worked in the Veltin studio.

Veltin Studio was donated by alumni of the Veltin School, a school for girls in New York with a highly respected visual arts department. As the plaque just outside the entrance attests, this studio was used by poet Edwin Arlington Robinson during most of the 24 summers he spent at MacDowell.
