Sam Grabiner is a playwright. His play Boys on the Verge of Tears is the winner of the 2022 Verity Bargate Award, and will be produced at London's Soho Theatre in 2024. His play Next Year in Jerusalem! won the 2020 Roundabout Theatre New Play Reading Series, and Neptune was shortlisted for the 2019 Bruntwood Prize. Grabiner is a finalist for The O'Neill Theatre Centre's National Playwrights Conference. Alongside his theatre work, he has a variety of film and television projects in development.

He is a graduate of the clown school L'ecole Philippe Gaulier and he holds an M.F.A. in playwrighting from Columbia School of the Arts, where he studied with the playwrights Lynn Nottage and David Henry Hwang.

MacDowell

Sam Grabiner worked in the MacDowell studio.

Built in 1912, Pine Studio was renamed MacDowell Studio in 1943 in recognition of support from a group of Edward MacDowell’s music students. It was built as a composers’ studio and the stuccoed walls were intended to be soundproof.
