Sarah Heller has poetry and fiction published or forthcoming in RealPoetik, Painted Bride Quarterly, Pembroke Magazine, NextBook, The Temple/El Templo, Thin Air, the blog Best American Poetry, and The Apocalypse Anthology (Flying Guillotine Press). She is the executive director of the Authors League Fund, teaches creative writing, and serves on the Board of Directors of Nightboat Books. She was the recipient of the Nadya Aisenberg Fellowship at MacDowell in late 2005, and has received other fellowships or awards from Drisha Institute, Virginia Council for the Creative Arts, Vermont Studio Center, and Soul Mountain Retreat.

MacDowell

Sarah Heller worked in the MacDowell studio.

Built in 1912, Pine Studio was renamed MacDowell Studio in 1943 in recognition of support from a group of Edward MacDowell’s music students. It was built as a composers’ studio and the stuccoed walls were intended to be soundproof.
