Sharlene Bamboat works predominantly in video and installation. Her works have exhibited at galleries and festivals internationally, including the Forum Expanded section of the Berlin Film Festival (Germany), Aga Khan Museum (Toronto), Art Gallery of Windsor (Canada), London Film Festival (UK) and Vasakh Film Festival (Lahore). Sharlene often works collaboratively, most notably with artist Alexis Mitchell under the name Bambitchell. The pair came to MacDowell to work on an experimental film exploring the history of the Medieval Animal Trials - where animals were tried in a court of law. The duo completed a rough edit of their film while in residence at MacDowell in 2018 and completed a version of their written script for the film as well.

In addition to her artistic practice Sharlene has employed various roles in the arts-sector in Canada; programmer, artistic director, educator, jury member, board member for not-for-profits arts organizations, and has been part of various film/video collectives. She currently lives and works between Toronto and Montreal.

Heinz

Sharlene Bamboat worked in the Heinz studio.

The icehouse, built of fieldstone in 1914–1915, was a practical part of Marian MacDowell’s plan for a self-sufficient farm.
