Stuart Hawkins is a Hong Kong-based photojournalist who has worked on assignment on all seven continents. His photographic, illustrative, and videographic work has been published in magazines and journals in Australia and Asia and exhibited in public and private galleries in Sydney, Melbourne, and Hong Kong. He has spoken on photojournalism and chaired discussion panels at the Australian Centre for Photography and the Sydney Institute of Technology and was privileged to teach photojournalism for the BBC World Service Trust journalism education project in Somalia (2004).

Nef Studio, the first entirely new studio built after 1937, was donated by esteemed photographer, explorer, author, and MacDowell Fellow Evelyn Steffanson Nef in 1992. Endowed funds for the studio’s maintenance in perpetuity and an annual Fellowship for photographers were given in addition to funds for construction.
