Terry O’Reilly is a playwright, performer, and director. His work ranges from dancing in the companies of Trisha Brown, Simone Forti, Barbara Dilley, and Meredith Monk to directing a minimalist opera about Nikola Tesla in Belgrade and Brooklyn Academy of Music to directing and co-writing (with Simon Wong) a children’s puppet play in Hong Kong and Guangxi based on US, Chinese, and African folk stories. A 2014-2015 Fulbright senior scholar in the area of aboriginal ritual and theater in Taiwan, his primary artistic work for more than four decades has been as an artistic director of Mabou Mines. He is also co-founder of Movement Research and the Mabou Mines Resident Artist Program.

International work includes performances and productions in Japan, Indonesia, Thailand, China, Hong Kong, Taipei, Rio de Janeiro, Singapore, Vienna, the Czech Republic, Poland, and Serbia. Publications include The American Poetry Review and The Bribe for Applause Books.

In addition to Radio plays, his produced works for Mabou Mines are: The Bribe, Animal Magnetism, Brer’ Rabbit in the Land of the Monkey King, My Sunshine Book, Cee Cee and Dee Dee, and the Flying House. He is a member of SAG and AEA.

Originally built near MacDowell's Union Street entrance, the Barnard Studio — which was funded by Barnard College music students — was re-located to its current site in 1910.
