Tom Kitt is a Pulitzer Prize winning composer who worked with collaborators director/librettist James Lapine and lyricist Michael Korie on a new musical entitled Flying Over Sunset while the trio was in residence. The musical chronicles four extraordinary figures: Aldous Huxley, Cary Grant, Clare Booth Luce, and George Heard, and their experimentation with LSD in the 1950s. Tom’s other recent work includes Next to Normal, If/Then, and Disney's Freaky Friday.

Irving Fine

Tom Kitt worked in the Irving Fine studio.

Youngstown Studio was given to MacDowell by friends of Miss Myra McKeown in Youngstown, OH, where she promoted both art and music. It was renamed Irving Fine Studio in 1972 in honor of Irving Fine, a distinguished composer, conductor, and teacher who was a MacDowell Fellow during the 1940s and 1950s.
