Here Be Sirens, Kate Soper's new opera/play with music, will be produced by the Morningside Opera Company at Dixon Place. Soper says it's not strictly an opera because she's written some text that shouldn’t be sung. But the hauntingly beautiful compositions include one song with lyrics taken from one of the longest intact fragments attributed to Sappho, the Greek lyric poet.
