This event will present an informal discussion with Meredith Monk about her career and creative practice in advance of the Meredith Monk & Vocal Ensemble: Cellular Songs in Concert performance the next day as part of the Garmany Series. The discussion will be led by Larry Alan Smith, Dean of The Hartt School and Curator of the Richard P. Garmany Chamber Music Series, and Ken Steen, Director of Hartt’s Contemporary Studies Division. Admission: $20. However, this event is free for University of Hartford faculty, staff, and students who show their UHart ID at the door.

Presented in conjunction with the Hartt Composition Department's Composers’ Seminar, Meredith Monk will participate in a discussion about her approach to writing music, collaborating with artists across disciplines, and forging a career as a composer. Composers Larry Alan Smith, Ken Steen and Adam Lenz will serve as moderators. This event is free and open to the public.
