Amy Epstein is a writer, director, and filmmaker based in New York. Her first short film, I’ve Got You Babe (an action/adventure pic) written during her residency at MacDowell, premiered at the Film Society of Lincoln Center’s 2000 New Director/New Films Series at the Museum of Modern Art and was sold to and broadcast on the Sundance Channel. The piece features Frederick Neumann of Mabou Mines and Lisa Welti of Via Theatre. Other work includes the direction and editing of the short film Homage To Drink, co-written and co-produced with Obie Award winner Cynthia Hopkins, who also stars in the film and the direction/production of the short documentary Joseph -- about a 13 year old boy and his love of writing. Her new short But This Is How It Will End, which she wrote, produced, directed, and edited, features Steven Rattazzi in the title role and premiered at the NY Indie Theatre Film Festival in February of 2019. Additional support for her screenwriting includes fellowships from the Edward Albee Foundation and most recently, the Virginia Center for The Creative Arts.

The Helen Coolidge Mansfield Studio was donated by graduates of the Mansfield War Service Classes for Reconstruction Aides. Helen Mansfield helped found the New York MacDowell Club. The small, shingled frame structure with stone foundation was originally fronted on the west side by a neat white picket fence and gate, a garden, and a stone pathway…
