Visual artist Angela Rose Voulgarelis is a life-long learner and interdisciplinary artist. She received her B.F.A. from the University of California at Santa Cruz, and attended Scuola Lorenzo De'Medici in Florence, Italy. For the last 27 years, she has worked and studied with the maverick artistic duo Rose Shakinovsky and Claire Gavronsky, known collectively as the Mrs. Rosenclaire, through private workshops in Italy and South Africa. She has been shortlisted for the Mother Art Prize in 2023.

At MacDowell, Voulgarelis produced a body of work that continued her investigation of issues concerning women. Using representations of women in art history as well as from contemporary sources, she explored identity, memory and loss to unsettle dominant narratives. She used found images as reference, and drew from direct experience as source material.

Angela Voulgarelis worked in the Adams studio.

Given to the MacDowell Association by Margaret Adams of Chicago, the half-timbered, stuccoed Adams Studio was designed by MacDowell Fellow and architect F. Tolles Chamberlin ca. 1914.
