Carol Korty is a playwright who has spent more than 30 years teaching playwriting as well. Her published scripts are available through Dramatic Publishing, Players Press, and Playscripts, Inc. She has also published an educational text for beginners entitled Writing You Own Plays. Korty has directed numerous productions and regularly toured theatre to schools with professional casts and student casts. She has been on the performing arts faculties of Antioch College, The College of Brockport, the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, Boston University, and Emerson College teaching acting, movement, theatre education, and playwriting. She is currently a professor emerita at Emerson College and lives in Lamoine, ME

Cheney Studio was given to MacDowell by Mrs. Benjamin P. Cheney and Mrs. Karl Kauffman. Like Barnard Studio, Cheney is a low, broadly massed bungalow. Sited on a steep westward slope, its porches are supported on wooden posts and fieldstone with lattices.
