Cheonae Kim is an artist based in Astoria, NY. She earned a B.S. in food and nutrition from Ehwa Women’s University in Seoul as well as a B.A. in drawing and an M.F.A. in painting, drawing, and printmaking from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. She has exhibited across the United States and abroad and her collections and gallery representation stretch from Tucson to New York City to Glawgow to Seoul. Kim is a recipient of the National Endowment for the Arts Visual Arts Fellowship Grant for painting as well as residencies and fellowships from MacDowell, Loft Nona Bene in Spain, and Fundación Valparaíso also in Spain.

Cheonae Kim worked in the Cheney studio.

Cheney Studio was given to MacDowell by Mrs. Benjamin P. Cheney and Mrs. Karl Kauffman. Like Barnard Studio, Cheney is a low, broadly massed bungalow. Sited on a steep westward slope, its porches are supported on wooden posts and fieldstone with lattices.
