Dan Tepfer is a jazz pianist. While in residence, he wrote a three-movement piece for a piano quintet, Solar Spiral, which was performed at the Ravinia Festival in late August of 2016. His last piece for orchestra earned him a Charles Ives Fellowship from the National Academy of Arts and Letters. He released the jazz trio album Eleven Cages on Sunnyside Records in June of 2017.
