Elena Passarello is a writer and actor who developed Let Me Clear My Throat, a collection of essays on the human voice in performance, at MacDowell. Her writing has appeared in Tin House, McSweeney’s, Paris Review, and Best American Science and Nature Writing 2018. Elena's second essay collection Animals Strike Curious Poses made the Best Books of 2017 lists of several publications, including The New York Times and the Guardian. A recipient of a Whiting Award and an Oregon Book Award, she teaches in the M.F.A. program at Oregon State University and is featured weekly on Public Radio International’s variety and culture show, “LiveWire!”
